The Ultimate Goal: The Disney Princess Half Marathon

Many people will probably think I’m crazy. I’ve only been running three weeks, yet I’ve already got a half marathon on the calendar. Registration paid in full. Room booked. Vacation time requested. I. Am. Doing. This.

The Disney Princess Half Marathon is on Sunday, February 24, 2013. It’s a 13.1 mile race through the Magic Kingdom at Disneyworld, down a long stretch of Disney highway and finishing up at Epcot. While the event is targeted at women, men can run too.

Most runners dress up as their favorite Disney princess, stop to take pictures with characters along the way, and generally just seem to have a great time doing this race. It seems less intimidating than other half marathons I’ve researched so far. And – it gives me the chance to go to the happiest place on Earth! 🙂

I’m still trying to finalize my costume – as this is, of course, the most important detail! Right now our team name is White and Grumpy and I will be Snow White while Stewart is a Dwarf (fitting since he’s ony 5’6″ – love you, baby).

Stewart and I will be running this year! Will you?

For more information, check out the Run Disney website:

Only 202 Days, 14 Hours, 47 Minutes and 53 Seconds. But whose counting? 🙂

I am much closer to the Tinkerbell Half marathon in Anaheim CA, which I am already signed up for in Jan 2013, even though I am training for my first half marathon in October (Long Beach). Disney looks like they put on some awesome events!

Someday (after I graduate from grad school) when I get a job and can afford to travel to FL, I too would LOVE to participate in the Disney Princess Half. Plus that means I would be eligible for completing the Coast 2 Coast disney challenge.

As for costumes, I am also planning on dressing up as a character (most people go as Tink for the race I signed up for, obviously). I am so looking forward to when Halloween season rolls around, so I can troll all the Goodwills nearby for cheap costumes (or at least makeshift my own!).

A Coast 2 Coast would be amazing. I’d love to come out to Disneyland and do that one year. I think my next Disney will be the Wine and Dine in November at Disney World. I think this will quickly become a very expensive addiction! Good luck with the Tinkerbell! Check out Team Sparkle, they have all kinds of Tink appropriate attire!
